Depressing news this morning in BBC

I was listening to BBC report that in a global scale Terrorists are winning! In Afghanistan to Iraq and America. I am quite depressed about this! What is going on? Are we such spine-less people! to let such extreme idealogies win over Freedom, Liberty, Justice and the rule of law...
